Royal
Ascot
is a world famous race meeting
that takes place annually every June. The event dates back to
1711 and a highlight of the British social calendar. Prizes are
given out for Best Dressed Female, and competition is fierce.
The races offer
the most top draw races of any event in the calendar, with a
total of sixteen Group races on offer, and one Group One race on
each day. Total prize money is £3m, Over 300,000 people attend
annually, making it Europe's best attended race meeting.
The
Ascot Racecourse is currently closed until May 2006 - the Royal
event will take place at other racecourses, such as York
Racecourse.
